| "Dutch" pancakes today. I call them this as I first had a similar thing at a windmill museum near Amsterdam.
They are conventional English-type pancakes made quite thin and when the batter is first put in the pan it is sprinkled with chopped fried bacon and tiny cubes of cheese. I use extra mature Gouda for this. the pancakes are not turned over but allowed to cook until the cheese is pretty much all melted - you need careful heat control for this - I have a pancake machine which does this fine. Roll the pancake up and enjoy. |

| Tonight it will be trout pan fried in herb or garlic butter (after I have de-boned them), with Anya potatoes boiled in their skins and steamed Fine Green Beans. I will also make some leek sauce to add extra moisture.
P.S. We purchased the Anya spuds, along with a variety of other veggie goodies for 39p each, from Sainsburys - on our way home on Boxing Day after attending A&E to get my hand attended to. Bargain Basement! :D |

| Just had a cordon bleu meal comprising two rounds of toasted granary bread spread with Kerrygold salted butter. One topped with two scrambled eggs - the other with baked beans. Accompanied by a glass of Solihull H2O de tap 2017. |

| Mushroom burgers today. Large chestnut or Portobello mushrooms fried in a small amount of butter, liberally seasoned - salt, pepper, herbs to suit. Slice of nice cheese on top, grilled to brown and served on suitable toasted bread buns. We sometimes have a modicum of bacon with them as well. |

Er indoors is outdoors today at a Christening so it's finger food for her. The thought of eating fingers is revolting |
