well the third way mark perhaps according to the quack quark and I was still having too much pain on joint movement - the original doc wouldn't give me anything strong so I finally consulted our friendly voodoo chemist from darkest efrica and she recommended a bed of the strongest OTH pain relief 'pharmacist choice - a mix of codeine 10mg pluse 500mg paracetamol with an overlay of ibuprofen to reduce inflammation - plus a leg and knee joint rub of tiger balm oil and that's doing the trick.

I was optimistic about the arnika but when you are in so much pain you need instant cure and it just didn't do it quick enough. Of course the tissue healing will take months. friend of mine had a ankle joint damaged in similar fashion and it's taken 6 mths with maybe a further 6. still at least I can still walk and more importantly drive!

I imagine the Arnica failed to work because, being in Australia, you are upside down and its goodness would run towards your head - leaving your knee bereft of any efficacious treatment.

well just in case anyone is remotely interested in my health which I doubt I finally had knee x-rays which showed a small crack on one of the bones - the decision so far is with physio and no weigh bearing which means crutches and a hopper and nothing stronger than paracetamol for pain relief BUT it does seem to be working even though I feel like a cripple and the doc has said no car driving [get stuffed!] so maybe another 3 mths and I'll be grand again!

As someone who once broke a kneecap into three bits, I can sympathise (and care). It's a very painful and complex joint to have injured. Keep it moving and in time, the pain does go. The odd 'throb' could be the only reminder that you ever did it.

The trouble is, when wondering if people care, there will always be someone who says something like, "You think that's bad!" ..just like I've more or less done here. :D  But still, it does mean I know the pain levels involved in a broken knee and can only wish you well and hope the pain subsides soon.

there was I suppose an option for surgery but the consultant [a rather elderly wise character] didn't think so and believed that slow gentle healing was better - yes everything heals someway sometime - god that could be a title for a song ! I can almost run now with my crutch in hand so there has been advancements - but one even gets negative about the crutch! and wants to throw it somewhere - but without it I fall down!
