Had some light rain over night but dry now, 18°C

We have had no rain for at least two or three weeks in Solihull. I've lost count.

Good morning - Grey skies, 16 degrees (at the moment) and dry. I saw in the News this morning that London got a lot of flooding. We're about 30 miles southeast of there and were fortunate enough to be just on the edge of the downpours.

Mart, I keep getting this message flashing up on my screen every few seconds...what can I do ?

I can't say for sure Malcolm but Is everything OK otherwise? Does the message only come up on this site? Bitdefender is giving no such warning.

The trouble is that all sorts of connections are made to other websites in the background when a page is called on to be shown on the screen. I occasionally get this with Bitdefender too ..but it gives no messages for here. It could be that AVG is giving a 'false positive', something flagged as a threat but it really isn't. I can't find anything mentioned on the AVG forum about that at present but it might be worth checking back there in a hour or two.

In any event, it looks like AVG has done its job by not letting that site connect. The message seems to be that there is a phishing danger rather than a virus infection one. Is there an option in AVG to turn notifications off so that the site is still blocked but silently so?

Where are your images hosted? If I do a search for 2img.net, it doesn't look to be an image hosting site in itself. I either get some complicated url that has photobucket included in it or I get redirected to a site that goes under the name of RedCDN. That might be what AVG has flagged as the phishing site. However, Bitdefender seems to be OK with it.

It could just be that AVG is making it's presence known and saying, "Look, I'm doing my job so buy me!"

In any event, it would seem best to scan your computer with whatever security programs you have.

It seems to be just on this site Mart....I have done complete scans with AVG and malawarebites but no threats are found
I panicked when the AVG pop-up wouldn't stop popping up and stopped me from using the site.
I use Firefox browser but I still got the message when I switched to MS Edge.
It is less regular now but still pops up from time to time... let's hope it clears itself and goes away
It maybe only one image on the forum but how will I know which one out of hundreds posted ?

The boiler has gone wrong. It's totally dead as if there is no mains electricity. External and internal fuses are OK. Going to get our son (an electrician) to check out the mains feeds. If it isn't that, it looks like a boiler repairer will be needed.

I notice that my avatar had disappeared on previous posts but has returned o this one..

Well in summer weather mode here, haven't any rain for a few months apart from a ten min shower overnight. Mrs Beastie is working full time in a friends hotel and pool bar, extremely hard work but enjoying it.
I have come to a hiatus in my jobs on the house and garden as most of the time its too hot.

There is some level of domestic tourism in the local resorts and quite a few tourists from Eastern bloc and Scandinavian countries with the odd Brit as well......Nothing to equal a regular summer, though the last one we had was 2019. My business is now just a memory as are many others. I have been keeping eyes and ears open for a possible new venture....But it seems a little futile....And I have just turned sixty five, so perhaps the years are telling me so slow down a tad?

We have just ended the 'Festa Major ' week in Blanes where in previous years, over a six night period the town would welcome up to 700,000 visitors, to enjoy numerous spectacles and a nightly international fireworks display. This, as last year, it was a very quiet town.

Covid numbers are rising as are deaths but are greatly reduced from last year. There is a curfew from 1am until 6am but everything is up and running apart from late night entertainment such as discos etc.

Though masks are not mandatory on the street if socail distancing since three weeks, in general, most people are still wearing them.

As discussed in another thread, this situation, I believe will worsen before being accepted for waht it is, or until a 100% vaccine can be developed.

It seems as if the message is just an AVG one. I don't know what AV program everyone else is using but nobody else is getting the message as far as we know. Bitdefender is reputable and isn't giving any alerts. If the site is being blocked, it is good because it shows the security program is doing its job.

Since there are no other reports so far, it could be that AVG has got it wrong (a false positive). It can happen. If this is the case, it is usually discovered by the company and put right in the next update. Also, I have seen sites flagged as risky purely because their security certificate has expired.

I don't think there is a danger but I'd never say never. As said, I'm not sure what 2img.net is all about since it doesn't seem to be anywhere on the net that is an image hosting company. Probably on of those things that works away in the background that tracks us.

A search for the site brings these results up. Maybe it's a service used by Photobucket or other image hosting companies.

I have found the source of the AVG message. It looks like many of the emoticons and images that go to make up this forum have their origins at 2img.net. Images that have always been there and thought safe.

I'm almost certain that it is an error on AVG's part.

Thank you very much Mart for investigating for me... fingers crossed the problem has gone away now.
The popup was so big it was masking the page and preventing me from doing anything.
I don't like AVG it has given me problems in the past but it's familiar and I'm used to using it...and of course it's free
