After a cold and frosty start to the day, it'll be mostly dry and bright, with sunny spells. However, there will be some scattered showers around, which could be heavy and wintry over the higher ground. Friday will get off to a bright but frosty, and locally icy start. Cloud will increase from the west during the morning, with wet and windy weather arriving towards lunchtime. Remaining cloudy and windy with showery rain during the afternoon........................................or at least that's what the weathermen say |

Rather windy with early showers giving way to more persistent rain. The rain will be heaviest across the hills and may give snow over the north Pennines and Cumbrian Fells. The rain will become more showery later in the day.........................................or at least that's what the weathermen say |
