| I completely missed any smoked salmon this year - even though there is a smokery down the road and I am particularly partial to it.
We'll be getting some later! |

| I love smoked salmon, and my favourite breakfast is somoked salmon and scrambled eggs. When I was a rep,I used to look out for special offers, and have smoked salmon and cucumber sandwiches in the car at lunch time. ----------------------------------------- Gustav Mahler is the finest composer who ever lived. |

| Just decided on dinner for this evening... Toad-in-the-hole with caramelised onions, creamed potatoes, sprouts and gravy. Oh yes, and the inevitable 'glass or two' of vino. Home made Yorks Puds: I rarely eat desert, but my DH will no doubt be enjoying home-made apple crumble and custard. One thing I do occasionally indulge in, is a small choc-ice. (Sainsburys do a box of eight for only £1) Excellent value. Cleanses the palate perfectly. ----------------------------------------- ..

| We are having home made steak pie with boiled Maris Piper spuds and a selection of veg with beef onion gravy. This will be accompanied by a couple of glasses of Argentinian Malbec 14.5% wine followed an hour later by a dose of Gaviscon (peppermint flavour) washed down with pure spring water.
We eat posh in our house. ----------------------------------------- This post may contain controversial personal opinion, humour, ironic comment or sarcasm. | Something dead simple, cheap and vegetarian today:
Cheese & Potato Pie with Tinned Tomatoes.
Layer of mashed potato, layer of sautéed chopped onion, layer of extra strong Cheddar, layer of mash. Do as many layers as you want, seasoning as you go. Finish with a layer of cheese. Put into a hot oven until brown and bubbling.
Serve with good quality tinned tomatoes seasoned with a smidgen of Worcestershire suace.

| One thing I have discovered pops is that no matter how much you pay for your tinned tomatoes they are all exactly the same !....so I buy the cheapest I can find ! I will make your cheese and onion pie next week sometime. |

I will make your cheese and onion pie next week sometime. I used to think that about tinned toms but then I was introduced to San Marzano Tomatoes. I am not usually taken in by marketing hype "Grown in the volcanic soil on the slopes of Mt Vesuvius" but they are really different in flavour and richness (also price). Not often seen in supermarkets, we get ours online from a specialist Italian grocer. We only eat them with something special. Normally we use just ordinary bog standard tins from the supermarket. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/San_Marzano_tomato |

| They are from their "Taste the Difference" range.
First time I have had them - they were bought for an apple crumble recipe which I came across. ----------------------------------------- ..
