Good morning - good weather i.e. no rain expected for the next couple of days.
Tooth's out but a lot of post-extraction discomfort taking lot of pain-killers and a short course of powerful antibiotics

harry is still in hospital hope he might be home this week

Good morning - I have got up and that's about it for today ..unless I can persuade Mrs mart into giving me a haircut.

I can only sympathize and hope the pain and discomfort doesn't last too long Malcolm.

Tooth cavity has improved greatly and is not a problem any more.

Hope that all's well with you Dave and that you are safe in the dreadful fires that are sweeping across Australia...the news that we are getting over here is frightening to say the least.

thanks Mal it is frightening here too - miraculously here in the far north of WA we are in the monsoon season and we had a wee downpour this arvo which was much appreciated - we feel relieved and blessed - apart from climate change yea - australia has been badly managed over 200 yrs agriculturally and lack of effective forest burning etc - something the Indigenous people practiced well. If you chose to live in the outback then you need to 'tend' it carefully and not let that wood fuel build up!

cyclone weather building up of the nw coastline - mucvh less frightening in a way to fire - just batten down the hatches and keep the candles running! - still eating boxing day left overs.

another small downfall of rain sometime in the night which is of course welcome. no watering duties for me for a few days! 

our fire righting mainly in the eastern states is being reported daily throughout the day both for news but to advise people in affected areas. Some people are choosing to stay and fight out the fire if they can and defend their properties and so far have not been forced to leave by police which is quite strange to my thinking but of course their whole life is in those properties so very emotional

all affected areas have small forest or coastal communities - villages as they would be called in Uk but here either towns or hamlets here are some of the strange names: berringgamma ; boggy creek ; hotham heights ; dinner plain ; smoko; bruthen - there are dozens and dozens more many of the names are Aboriginal. there are hundreds and hundreds of these hamlets outside of the cities and many are favorite holiday resorts. 

our PM is coming under fire - excuse the pun - at the moment and being accused of not doing enough - of course he was discovered in Hawaii recently with his family and was forced to cut that short and return - remember in the olden days the King would lead his armies into battle - that what was expected of him - now he is eating humble pie - poor bella!

Here we are in N Wales for a couple of days and the weather is good....I am so happy to be able to eat again.

England seems quite safe apart from flooding of course. just been watching griffs great kiwi road trip final series where he had visited the white island just days before the eruption - the trip was edited out but you can read his thoughts on griffs nz trip!

wouldn't credit it 12 hrs constant downpours here and in darwin and alice springs ehilst the east continues to burn and now we have our first tropical cyclone developing off our coast which will bring more.

the downside is the dampness cuts out the tv signals and main house lights - still can't have it perfect in an imperfect world?

step son purchased some already spicy chicken wings from Woolworths and cooked them with rice - you get what you pay for and cook - I offered to throw in some extra spice elements but that was declined - yhuck - threw mine away  - I feel a belechan with prawns and runner beans coming on again!

make that now 24 hrs constant rain - I cannot believe it and wish I could divert it but do not have the power. Our next major problem will be negotiating the drive way built of gravel and soil that gives way easily!!

we live in extreme times and extreme climes!!
