£200 ..... seems like a lot of money to me, but I only have a patch of grass 20ft x 6ft that needs mowing so I could never justify the expense.

Amazons price is £270.  The battery represents quite a fair size part of the price.  It has been worth every penny.

Ah!

I will not cease from mental fight,
Nor shall my sword sleep in my hand,
Till we have built Jerusalem
In England's green and pleasant land

replace 'sword 'with 'mower' and there you have it !

He who lives by the mower shall die by the mower.

I've done a few cuts with the Gtech battery lawnmower and it does a good job. I got the Gtech because it has a similar cutting width to my corded electric mower. This mostly works out for the best but of course, it is larger blade for the motor to revolve. A smaller blade means less effort for the motor I suppose.

I don't think I'll get rid of the corded mower because it is more powerful. This might not make much difference to cutting the grass but I also use a mower as a lawn vacuum when the leaves come down. I don't think the battery mower would be as good at picking up leaves as the corded mower.

Ah yes, what you'd need is the 'Acme Mingle-Shingle' for where you are. It has blades that mingle up the shingle and leaves it laying nice and flat. :)
