She is clever at quite at quite a few different crafts but doesn't sell anything. It's just an interest for her, although she does give them as presents to family and friends. The beadwork shown is some of her earlier work. Later stuff is much more intricate looking. Some of the beads she uses are so small I can hardly see them. :)

She also makes quilts, does cross stitch pictures, makes greetings cards, knits and produces lots of other crafty items. Unfortunately, she is suffering with her hands lately, so I'm not sure how much longer she'll be able to keep making such things.

My kind of girl Mart. Same here. I did a lot of jewellery making but went onto latch and locker hooking,

I gave everything away too.

Some really nice jewellery there! I wouldn't have the patience ..used to do a bit of knitting and cross stitch but that's about it.

Yes, she is a clever old thing. :) Had lots of immobile hours to spend learning various crafts I think. Here are a couple of quilts she made, all stitching done by hand:

My mother was a great one for emroidery.  She went through a stage of reading up about Chinese history and the Ming dynasty. She was entranced by the names given to women, like "little lotus blossom"  and "flowering cherry tree".
One night while reading in bed with my father almost asleep she said "John , if we were Chinese what would I be called?"
"Chinky" said dad.

That's nice work Ciderman. A good thing about stitched pictures (apart from them being good to look at) is that they leave behind a memento of the person who did them. Something tangible and enjoyable. I often wonder what I'll leave behind that people might remember me by. Not a lot probably. :)
