After a frosty start, it will be a largely fine day with sunny spells but winds will strengthen for all and cloud will thicken across northern areas through the day. It will feel cold, especially in the wind.......................................or at least that's what the weathermen say |

A wet and windy morning with heavy rain. Snow is likely across higher ground giving some accumulations with a risk of snow falling to lower levels for a time. Turning drier from the north through the afternoon but staying cold........................................or at least that's what the weathermen say |

Friday will get off to a bright but frosty, and locally icy start. Cloud will increase from the west during the morning, with wet and windy weather arriving towards lunchtime. Remaining cloudy and windy with showery rain during the afternoon........................................or at least that's what the weathermen say |

Rather windy with early showers giving way to more persistent rain. The rain will be heaviest across the hills and may give snow over the north Pennines and Cumbrian Fells. The rain will become more showery later in the day.........................................or at least that's what the weathermen say |
