Thai Food Empty
PostSubject: Thai Food   Thai Food EmptyTue Oct 12, 2021 1:34 pm

A takeaway Thai restaurant has opened nearby and I'm afraid I know very little about Thai food.
Can anyone recommend where to start?

I've never got round to trying it to be honest, sticking to the chippy!

I'll see if I can get a menu to post up.

ywes that worked out fine well done! - I see they are calling themselves Thai/Lao - so that covers two countries of course - the thai foods traditionally can be quite fiery and the laos less so but most restaurants in other countries unless their are noted for being tip notch will not sell the food too fiery.

but the first question I would put to you is: can you eat any degree of spicy food at all? - if you can't then you are stumped really.

if you can handle some degree of fieriness then it is really up to you to negotiate the degree with them with whatever ruler of hotness you wish. Usually things like v.hot to medium hot to very low heat - not much chilli etc.

they will put chillies into all dishes even the salads and soups so it is up to you to decide what heat you can handle and make it very clear to them. but I would be happy to go in there anyday with that menu - very good selection. either go in and try a few dishes or get some take aways but make sure they get your instructions correct on heat levels!! best of luck
