I Don't Like Rats

Last week we had a couple of rats in the rear garden for a few days each evening and during the night (shows up on CCTV). Sometimes in broad daylight. Last year our neighbour installed decking over his patio and made the mistake of not leaving gaps between the decking boards, thus giving rats a nice solid roof to live under. I have always left 10mm gaps between decking boards to deter vermin from nesting under there.

The only good thing about rats - is they chase pigeons out of the garden - it's an amusing spectacle.

I have found that the rat poison you get in DIY and other stores tends to be ineffective, so when required, I buy it from a website that sells products to pest control officers. I have an account with them - the stuff they sell is competitive and A1.

I used to own a powerful .22 gas powered air rifle that solved our rat and pigeon problems - but when Libby and I married she "persuaded - ouch!" me to sell it.  

I put out a couple of loaded bait boxes last Tuesday and had to refill them with bait each morning for 3 days - we haven't seen a pesky rat since Saturday and the bait hasn't been touched. I guess that they are now permanently back under next door's decking.

I live in the countryside, surrounded by open fields.....I feed three feral cats on a daily basis and the only rats we see are dead ones that the cats leave by the back door....my problems are ants and vine weevils ... pesky critters that blight my life.
