| I had the bone marrow biopsy yesterday (Monday) and the nurse told me that it was for a "residual disease test". I had to look that up and this is a part of the info that I found. - Quote :
- How MRD Testing Can Affect Your Treatment. Testing
for MRD can help the treatment team distinguish between patients who need additional (or different) treatment from those who do not. This knowledge can also potentially guide treatment decisions and improve patient outcomes. Minimal residual disease testing can help: Show how well the cancer has responded to treatment Confirm and monitor remissions Find cancer recurrence sooner than other tests Identify patients who may be at a higher risk of relapse Identify patients who may need to restart treatment Identify patients who may benefit from other treatments, such as stem cell transplantation or combination therapy |

| Just spoke to the consultant, the three tests they use to find leukaemia cells have all been negative. I am going for a blood test on Thursday but they will be at monthly intervals now. Chemo treatment is being stopped and bone marrow biopsies every three months just to keep an eye on progress. |

| I've only just found this .... Can I give you a hug Purwell ... in fact, I insist, so brace yourself ... it all sounds very frightening and you sound so stoic about it all. You have been through the mill but the last batch of tests sound very encouraging. |
