It's no longer done by the Met Office in fact I think the data for the UK comes from an European firm to the BBC now. Nowhere near as good as the Met Office was.


On 23 August 2015, the BBC announced that the Met Office would lose its contract to provide weather forecasts, the BBC stating that it is legally obliged to ensure that licence fee payers get the best value for money.^[12] The BBC said that the on-air presenting team was not expected to change and it would still broadcast warnings from the Met Office National Severe Weather Warning Service and Shipping Forecast issued on behalf of the Maritime and Coastguard Agency.^[13]
A competitive tendering process followed, with MeteoGroup chosen as the new provider in August 2016.^[14]
Public feedback in January 2018 regarding the subsequent updates and changes to the BBC Website and associated weather applications for mobile devices were generally critical.^[15][16] On 6 February 2018, the BBC began using the MeteoGroup graphics.

Did not get up early and it is dark and dismal here but not raining.

I can just about recall damp drizzly etc but strangely it sounds enticing again! - when I lived in Victoria for a year it did that! very victoriana type state

heavy downfalls of rain in the far east giving queensland a break and we are waiting for it to move far west to us!

Cold wind this morning but not quite freezing, might be a dawn dip though.
