| I am continually amazed at the amount of fuss caused in every way by this "game".
It is treated more like a religion than a game by thousands of woebegone "supporters". I have one friend, of long standing, who has his TV permanently locked on to cricket. I can not remember being in his house when cricket has not been showing (winter or summer).
As a teenager I played in the same team as my friend (about four times) and still can not explain why. |

| most sports have a noise element inserted even ping pong and the more serious they become the noisier they become - tennis for example can be monstrous [ it's much nicer watching it muted!] chess seems to be pretty quiet but I'm not sure if it's classified as a sport - the echo factor in swimming events is a bit annoying - skiing seems to be quite quiet and gets quieter and quieter as the contenders move away!

| Cricket was always my favourite game of all. Probably because I was good at it. I played for Auckland Secondary Schools and when I was in England I played for a team called the Brighton Arrows. I was captain of the school soccer team but lost interest in soccer when the "Hollywood" era came. you have to be a good actor to play soccer. You have to be able to scream in agony when nobody has touched you.

| When I played cricket at school we were always taught that you did not talk or shout whilst on the field of play it was ungentlemanly conduct, and only the bowler was allowed to shout 'Owzat' whilst asking the question to the umpire. |

I always thought it was "Owls hat". A reference to the (at times) odd head gear of the referees's. |

You have to be a good stunt man as well Ciderman. The false tripped-up routine and the kick in the knee-cap.  |
