| Here's something I'm sure all you Poms would enjoy taking part in! :;smile: Gumboot throwing, rock carrying , cow pat throwing, tree climbing, wood chopping, wood sawing, speed fencing etc etc The Aussies are in it for a bit of trans Tasman competition but I'm sure the Mother country could compete. In the rock carrying, for example, there are 5 rocks to be lifted on top of barrel, they start at 75kg and the last and biggest is 135kg. You'd all enjoy it. https://www.tvnz.co.nz/one-news/new-zealand/familiar-faces-meet-top-competitors-rural-games ----------------------------------------- Civilisation is a veneer, easily soluble in alcohol!

| I've seen news-clips of the Gumboot throwing competition. Also known as 'welly-throwing' I think ..as in Wellington Boots or 'wellies' for short.
Some of the strong man contests they have on TV include the lifting weights onto the tops of surfaces that are at about chest height. I've vaguely heard of some of the others. Cheese-rolling down a hill is another that could be added to the list. |

| Well it could be thought of as a rural sport but not one that could be made a contest of ..although I suppose there could be a judge going around several haystacks and giving contesting couples marks out of twenty for ingenuity and style. :) |

| Seems like a fun day out for the Family ciderman, I'll give it a miss though. It's a long way to travel for a day out. |
