"The UK is but a stone raft .... slowly drifting away from mainland Europe at the rate of 5cm every 100 years."

I can now release the news that this problem has now been overcome .
Management and I have visited the East coast twice this week. Once to Hornsea and once to Hunmanby.
In both places we drove a strong piece of wood into the beach and then another one into the cliff side. Then a piece of quite very strong string was used to connect the two pieces of wood at each location.
This timely action should save much worry and anguish for all concerned.

Note to andsome.     Do not try to work it out ...just light a couple of joss sticks.
