| The 29-year-old transgender US Army private, born Bradley Manning, will be freed on 17 May instead of her scheduled 2045 release.She was sentenced to 35 years in 2013 for her role in leaking diplomatic cables to the anti-secrecy group
A very brave, but very wise decision in my opinion.
This tormented soul was convicted because of her misguided loyalty to her country.

| Assange said if they pardoned her - he would be willing to be deported to the USA to face charges there.

| This is not a pardon...far from it, it is a commutation of sentence... in other words an early release. |

Not quite sure it was ' misguided', Malcolm. She and Assange revealed all manner of evil hidden by government and government agencies. A victory for transparency and accountability.  In my ever-humble opinion, of course. |
