| You can prevent thieves from stealing your car crooklock from inside your car by hooking one end over the steering wheel and the other end under one of the pedals. ----------------------------------------- This post may contain controversial personal opinion, humour, ironic comment or sarcasm. | One morning a few years ago management had gone to York in the car to do a bit of shopping. She had left the car in the "park and ride" and gone in to York from there on the bus. When she came back to it another car from the row across the other side of the "road" had rolled back in an arc and had rammed our Merc. in the side of the left hand back corner.
She rang me and I got a neighbour to run me up to try to sort things out. It was perfectly obvious what the driver had done. He had put one of those "crook lock" anti theft thing in place connecting the steering wheel to one of the foot pedals. What he had not done was to put the handbrake on or put it into gear.
The result was that, due to the slight slope of the entire car park, his car had rolled backward in an arc and its rear end had smote our car with more than just a tap.
John and I arrived at about mid day and started to wait for the return of the owner. The Council employees in charge of running the car-park were totally unconcerned and would do nothing to help. Eventually, at about half past three the owner returned. Happily he took no persuading in the direction of the identity of the guilty party.
He arranged through his insurance agent to have our car collected from home for repair, and a courtesy car for the duration. It all worked out in the end but it took us a week or more to get rid of the cold or flue that we got waiting over four hours out in the cold. |

| I saw a white transit van parked at our local shops the other morning that was absolutely filthy. It clearly hadn't been washed for weeks
On one rear door someone had written in the dirt "I wish was my missus was a this filthy"
and on the other rear door "Also available in white" ----------------------------------------- This post may contain controversial personal opinion, humour, ironic comment or sarcasm.
