First time in years. More like a charabang but with a top on! - it cost me $60 and enabled me to travel 200 kms to the seaside town of Broome where the lad and his family are. Picked up by life long friend in car and transported to the local hospital for a Cat scan - interesting process to be talked to by a machine and transported to and fro lying horizontal!
then out for a coffee and slice of hot toast and a chat about old times and 'how are all the kids? then finally hit the lads pad for home thai cooking - heavenly - the cook was Thai! few beers of course and then a long rest to get over it all.
as I sit out on the verandah with the lad yarning the grandkids pop out at different times and in different order to listen to our conversation and ask questions. At one time we were discussing the long haul to getting a Phd and how to access one particularly study from the school library - I've left the grand daughter with that challenge.
the evening rolled on into cigars ; bourbon and more Thai food and blue grass music. I finally hit the sack, satisfied but bushwhacked and slept well with the aircon full blast! DAY ONE
