Motorway Driving Empty
PostSubject: Motorway Driving   Motorway Driving EmptyThu Feb 20, 2020 3:04 pm

I have found the standard of driving has deteriorated steadily over the years up to the present downright dangerous conditions.
Undertaking and switching lanes without using indicators is pandemic now.

Another habit that I notice regularly now is the number of drivers who seem to prefer driving behind a lorry, not always dangerously close, but closer than I would prefer.

The A1M from Letchworth right back to Hatfield was at a standstill yesterday for about three hours, which brings me to another point. Why aren't there advice boards before each entry slip road warning people not to join the Motorway?

I agree too. One of the motorway's close to here (the M3) is a so called 'smart motorway'. They just frighten me and I don't want to drive on them.

PostSubject: Re: Motorway Driving   Motorway Driving EmptySun Mar 01, 2020 12:06 pm

It's certainly notĀ  empty now.
I used to drive down it with my old Bedford Campervan on my annual pilgrimage to Tolpuddle for ofer ten years but I have given up now and sold theĀ  van.
People who are not used to the idea of smart motorways suddenly realise that they are in an exit lane and just pull out without looking in their mirrors.

A1M has been shut Northbound again from Hatfield to Stevenage most of the afternoon but seems to be clearing now.
One thing that does surprise me is how many people will just sit there instead of getting off and finding an alternative route.
