Poetry or prose

Hey Davo, sorry I missed this until now......I am delighted by anyone who produces any form of art, poems, paintings, stories, craft work...ANYTHING....It doesn't have to be mind blowing or the best articulation, just heartfelt.
Over the years I have written dozens of short stories and poems and some inane ramblings....I also paint a great deal....Am enjoying reading your histories.


Poetry or prose...........

I’ve always wondered about poetry, what’s all the hue and cry?
So I’m putting pen to paper, and thought I’d give a try…
After reading all the other efforts, dam fine writings there,

I’m sat here a little numb as to why’s my paper bare?
                                                                       
Now all these other poems, most of which are written well,            
 Still leave my mind quite empty, I’m finding writing hell….           
If Davo himself, on his own, can write such lovely prose,      
 Why do I find it difficult to rhyme a word with rose?                     
                                
Perhaps I need a theme to run, from first word to the last,             
A story of some hero, his future and his past?                                  
Or maybe write of love and things, of beauty and the beast,           
Or life and death and ugliness, some important thing at least?      
 
Shall I mention birds and bees? Nature and the such,                     
Or will readers find it boring, its content far too much?                 
I think I’ll leave it simple, make it easy to enjoy,                               
not complicated nor difficult, nothing to annoy!                               
 
Now I have an idea, something I can write,                                       
my mind has started racing, I’ve found my inner sight,                   
The words they are a-churning, running through my mind,          
tumbling and a-falling, lining up real kind,                                       
 
As I lay them down as script, crisp and clear and neat,                      
 What a job, nicely done, quite an amazing feat!                                
When I read the whole thing through, checking words and rhyme, 
I realize its rubbish, a huge literary crime,                                            
 
Perhaps this thing is not for me, being a poetic bard,                          
I find the art of writing, far too bloody hard,                                        
So I’ll stick with what I know and love and leave it to the rest,           

To hard for me, too difficult, I’m not up to the test!

Those pearly gates


As I knocked on Heavens door
I was staggered, stunned, nearly hit the floor,
There lined up, smiling brightly were all the worlds untold, unsightly,
Liars, robbers, thieving scum, rapists, murderers, each a bum,
Evil people, everyone a cheat, all lined up, the worlds elite.
I turned to look and stop and stare, all these villains, how they dare?
‘Listen Pete’, I asked the doorman ‘What’s going on’? ‘There’s Martin Boorman’!
There was Adolph Hitler sipping gin and Peter Sutcliffe mixing in,
Idi was there rolling dice with Hirhito smiling nice,
Kim Il Sung read a book whilst old Max Robespierre’s shoulders shook
At some old joke that Genghis told, whilst Stalin laughed out loud so bold,
‘Wrong place?’ I asked the man with keys,‘Is this the place for bad people, please?’
‘Nope’, said Pete, as he smiled oddly,  There’s nowt that’s here but them that’s Godly,
‘I’m confused’, I said, ‘All this sin’, ‘it can’t be right, they can’t come in!’
‘Why not’ said Pete as he closed the door, ‘All are welcome, rich or poor’.
 
 
 
I shook my head and closed my eyes, so that’s what happens when someone dies….

-nice one beast - closer to the truth than believed - I was reading one of donald Neil Walsch's conversations with god recently in which there was a statement - even Hitler went to heaven - I think it was gods line too??
