Than you, Mal. I'm a retired school teacher. Mainly based in Sydney. Love my sport- follow Arsenal in the EPL. Love to read- mostly intelligent crime and have a passion for all things British. I love my cricket, but we'll leave it at that. Look forward to having chats about all things. Again thank you for the welcome.

I read a lot too.....James Lee Burke and Michael Connelly are the best crime authors IMO.
Have you read any of those ?
Which authors would you recommend ?
How did you discover our forum ?... it is very quiet at the moment I'm sorry to say, maybe you will liven it up a bit

Thanks to you all for the warm welcome. Admin: I love James Lee (he's answered my emails a couple of times- whew). I tend to follow British and Scandinavian authors- Rankin, McDermid, Mankell, Nesbo, etc. I tend to steer clear of mass produced rubbish. Found out about this site via an English bloke. Hope we do pick up a bit. I love a yarn and to the other Aussie and Kiwi: good onya fellas. Cheers, Gibbo.

Yes. He goes by the moniker, George. Funny bloke and tells some great jokes. You've actually got a good crime writer in your neck of the woods. His name is Neil White out of Preston. I'm in regular contact with him as we both love League (he's a Wakefield trinity boy). Look his books up- their worth a go. Cheers, Dave.

Just checked out Neil White and bought a couple of his books, Beyond Evil and Cold Kill.

So who's this forum member called George ? is he still an active member and still posting ?

Good choice. I think you'll enjoy them. He's a Wakefield boy, but practices law in Preston. Check out his w/site. George, I'm not to sure about. We swap jokes every now and then. He may go under a different moniker on this site. Cheers. Just got an e mail from Neil and he said thanks. One of the biggest thrills for me was hearing a couple of times from James Lee. I was like a little school kid. He dubbed "noble mon". How cool is he and how cool is that. I'm 61 btw.

James Lee Burke is one of the best and most important writers of our generation and you are fortunate to have him as a friend.

Cool. Can I call you something other than Admin? Neil's a good bloke and we get on pretty well. He combines being a lawyer with his writing, Wants to come to Australia and watch his beloved game of rugby league. That's what brought us together. Cheers.

I think you will enjoy. Yes James Lee writes such beautiful and emotive prose. He could write about a toilet seat and it would be engrossing. Ok, Mal. Wigan- My team- St George Illawarra beat you in the WCC about the beginning of 2011. Both red and white, so that's ok. League is a great game and it was a fantastic world cup here. I watched every single game!!!!n Cheers mate.
