No wonder you keep buying apples......my wife has an iPod, phone and tablet all stuffed with iTunes which all seem to run Ok. It's a good job because I know bugger all about them

Apple has never let me down Alan. Iv'e been running Apple iMacs for years now. Never had any problems with them.

Usually found under: 'Menu (button) > System Settings'. Scroll down the window that opens and the version is found in System Info in the 'Hardware' section.

I have now managed to to get back with the info. Not as swift as I hoped for.
I am wallowing in the delights of Linux MINT 17.3.
I get a few "Updates" from time to time but the above is what would seem to be answer to your query.
