Its here again that time of year, is it only me that holds its fear?
All the glitter the gaudy, the tat and the crap, and all to fill Santas sack
Of baubles and toys and shameful ploys and games that make so much noise,
Where is the reason for all this shame, we do it each year, again and again,

Will we ever learn what its really for, the lonely, the sad , the weak and the poor,
The ones worse off, more than you and me, the ones worse off you seldom see,
Cos that’s why we’re here on Christmas day, to love and to give and finally pay,
For the gift of life, when a child was born, in a stable bare one early morn.

Not to grasp and to grab and want and yearn, but to listen and love and really learn,
That lifes to short to bitch and to fight, to rob and steal day and night,
Lets just look at what we own, might not be much but lets not moan,
Cos there's others about without even water, who’s lives are filled with nowt but slaughter

And death and pain, bitter and twisted, in Gods big book their names not listed.
Then when we know what its really for, it’ll enrich our lives, we won’t be poor,
But that’s what I fear, what I really doubt, that noone knows what its all about,
And on we’ll carry year by year, and miss the message that is quite clear

That its not you and me and what we’ve got, but all the others, those who have not,
Then when we do and feel their pain, we’ll understand and really gain
The knowledge that we lack, what we can’t see, what we seek and strive and cannot be,
And until we reach this level unseen, we will always be what we’ve always been,

Just a punter and his cash finding their way, filling Santas sack and having to pay!
