I'm playing around with the W.10 Creators Update (got it early). This means the computer being offline for periods of time and me concentrating on seeing how things look. I might be a bit absent or quiet because of it. It's all good fun. :)

People complain if there's a bit of friction in a Forum
but you can bet your sweet bippy it raises the activity level.

Just ponder those horrible "reality" TV shows
(not that I'm suggesting we should emulate them).
People are riveted when there's a bit of figurative 'blood on the walls'.

"A bit quiet" can lead to stagnation.

I think we have a nice mix here. Loud posters often deter the quiter folk, which I think is a shame :;smile:

A bit quiet means a bit pre-occupied, that's all.

I'm clean installing the update, rather than upgrading the existing software. This takes quite a long time. The first attempt wasn't too successful. I have a Dymo LabelWriter and the software didn't install properly. Tried to resolve the problem but the installation had been irreversibly messed up.  I wiped the hard disk clean again, reinstalled the OS and had a second try at installing the label writer. I did it differently this time and it went OK. I think the problem arose because the label writer is old. It does the job though and a later model would be expensive. I'm glad it works now.

Having overcome that. I'm continuing building up the system. The Creators Update isn't that much different. I had trouble with the Desktop icon text being too small. There was an adjustment for text only in the previous version but it has gone in this one. Nonetheless, I found an answer on the Windows 10 Forums for this and now that's OK. So I carry on. The system is OK enough to post this anyway. :)

The trouble is that, despite a computer's ease of use (when they work properly :)), they are complicated things. Once you start scratching just below the surface of that nice interface and get a bit of understanding of what is going on, you start speaking/writing like I do. :)

On the other hand, when you do that, it is usually possible to get more out of a computer and make it work better.

I prefer to stay very much out of the equation.  I honestly do not know what half of it means. Just guess work.

Our grandson says Nanny let me show you. Best all around  :;smile:

Help us set up Skype and he is only 6. Ha ha

If you enjoy Mart it is a nice hobby for you.
