I was woken early this morning by the house alarms. As you know we have had gales for quite a few hours and I could hear what I thought were stones hitting the windows.

At daybreak on checking I saw the oddest site. The window sills, porch and garden are covered in these huge sycamore seed pods

I remember as a kid we used to call them hellicopters by the way they used to twirl
around when falling from the trees.

I am shocked at how hard they are hitting the windows digby and the tree is 4 gardens away so you can guess how windy it is.
