| After Mrs Mart's accident, they tried to mend her knees but they were never any good after that. The attempted fix was quite a DIY job that involved the bits and pieces we might use for fixing almost anything together. Anyway the screws loosened and the metalwork had to be removed six months later. Interesting to see the bits that were used: The car bumper is about at knee height, so it's them that get it just before a person goes either under a car or up on the car's bonnet before going down onto the road. It was the latter for Mrs Mart. |

| Awh what a shame Mart. Hope Mrs Mart is recovering nicely. Surgeons do use lots of DIY equipment. |

| My wife had a hip replacement then just when it was about right she fell over onto that knee and drove the the titanium bit up shattering her femur. It was so spectacular that the surgeon sent xrays via email all over the place as a learning tool. Just last month she had a small piece of metal removed near the knee where it was causing a small problem. Seems ok now- hopefully! |

| Sounds nasty and very painful Ciderman. I don't think bones are ever quite the same once they have been broken. They can sometimes still hurt even many years afterwards. Mrs Mart's shattered knees happened in 1991 and she still can't tolerate having her legs touched in the knee-joint area.
In 1985, I fell over my tool case while carrying a heavy old Sony Betamax video recorder. I kind of managed to save the video recorder but it went down on my finger and split it open so the tendons could be seen moving about.
Not only that but I went down on my left knee and broke the kneecap into three bits. Hospitalised for a week and in plaster for six weeks. I got over it in the end but all these years later, that knee can still sometimes hurt. |

| I've been lucky Mart. I've broken my nose, my wrist (twice) my fingers, my thumb and my ribs (twice) but never damaged my walking gear. Haven't got a very good preservation instinct! :;smile: |
