Goldie--we had no barbers shop in our village so the local farmhand  opened his parlour each thursday at 7pm and charge sixpence---must say he cut the fields much neater than the hair.

Sure was Jimmy. Never saw much of my grandparents always following my dad in the RN.

Here is an original of my g/father in the first world war-he was a driver and his job was to pick up ammunition and distribute it to the camps---imagine that wagon being hit with a shell.[You must be registered and logged in to see this link.]

My dad was a London Met policeman before the war. The Met football team toured the continent playing other police teams. My dad centre front row. My grandfather was a London met policeman as was his father in law.

Now I am really annoyed   our pics are stuck on a hard drive and do not know how to upload to tablet no USB port.

Is this a drive on a computer (iPad perhaps)? If so, the problem can be overcome by using Dropbox. Install this on both computers. Upload the photos to the Dropbox service and download them to the other computer from there.

Hi Mart 

It's a separate hard drive facility plus some USB sticks. We loaded all pics onto the separate hard drive but now our lap top has died so  purchased tablets instead. 

I really do not want to buy another lap top if it can be avoided 

We did not realise until we got home that there was no port.

I wonder if it could be achieved using Bluetooth?

I think the USB drives might have to be first attached to Windows computer before thinking about how the photo files could be transferred in any way?

I wonder if it could be done by plugging the drive(s) into a TV or media player that has USB ports. If the TV/media player was on the same network as the (presumably) iPad, then the iPad might be able to see the files on the USB stick and then transferred directly. Just a thought.
