I once won a basket of fruit at my local church Christmas fair I don't usually do raffles and have never bought a lottery ticket either. Gambling is for mugs.

At about age ten I won a knicker pink "cut glass" dressing table set comprising a glass tray, two bowl things with lids and two bottles with glass stoppers. It wasn't cut glass at all. It was dead cheap pressed or moulded glass. Just the think I needed!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I won a Kenwood Chef Mixer some years later. That was worth having.
That's mi lot!

I once won a bottle of wine - it was corked and undrinkable.

Take the bottle of wine back. They'll replace it. When we were all afflicted with corks about 4% were found to be contaminated from the cork's microbial contents. Luckily we now have screw caps.
When I was a child, just after the war finished, my mom won a £100 voucher for Gamages. She thought this would be a good opportunity to buy me some new clothes. The shop assistant got out lots of clothes for me to try on , but nothing seemed quite right. After about half an hour of trying the shop assistant said to my mother, "We'll never get anything to fit him ! He's deformed!" and he stomped off , (presumeably to look for another job!) My maternal parent was not impressed!

I only ever won a mouth organ. Yeh, I know ... neither use nor ornament and after a few blows on the thing I gave up.

I can knock out a few tunes on the mouth harp or 'harpoon' as Kris Kristopherson wrote in this brilliant song.

In the early 70s, I won $7000 on a horse-race trifecta. To put that into perspective, I had just bought a house for $9000.
A couple of months ago, I won $2000+ on a poker-machine.
We won't talk about the losses though ...........

I won £50 and a big bag of compost from our local garden centre a few years back. Malcolm I prefer Janis Joplin's version of Me and Bobby McGee.

Those nice chocolates in a gold wrapping. The women were asking if they could trade their husbands if I would just swap!
