I was born in Handsworth Birmingham. During national service, I started at West Kirby, then onto Wellesbourne Mountford, then to Cottesmore, then to Geilenkirchen Germany. While in Germany I came home on leave and got married and rented a couple of rooms from a lovely family in Waubach Holland. We could see the Seigfried Line from our bedroom window. We lived with my mother after demob while we saved for our first house in Perry Barr Birmingham, and moved to our present house in Burntwood in 1965.
