| Sadly, during the fire fighting in the Port Hills in Christchurch, a helicopter crash resulted in the death of an ex member of our SAS , who had been rewarded for bravery in Afghanistan. The conditions were very severe with smoke and strong turbulent winds. Very difficult conditions for flying helicopters carrying a big monsoon bucket of water. It is encouraging that a friend set up a "Give a Little" page that has so far raised over $260,000 dollars for his family. His funeral is today.

| Yes Davo, we've got our mutual problems at the same time. Usually we send firefighters to Oz and you send teams when we have a quake. There's a lot to be said for the ANZAC spirit. (As long as it's not in rugby, league or cricket!  )

| yes and we've just lost a great retired wallabies player Vickerman - died at home aged 36 - no further details at present |

| Yes I saw that! Quite a few have keeled over lately. Springbok, All Black and now Vickerman. All Too young!

| If it was a little nearer, I might just do that. ;) One of my ambitions before 'the end' was to visit both Australia and New Zealand. I have travelled well throughout my life, but not managed this particular venture. The journey puts me off now - I'm not sure my old body and system would survive!  ----------------------------------------- ..
