Litter in Islington Empty
PostSubject: Litter in Islington   Litter in Islington EmptyThu Jan 26, 2017 11:55 am

When we got home on Monday there was a letter waiting for us.
It was addressed to Emily Jones at our address including postcode.
We don't know anyone of that name so we had to open it.... it was from Islington Environmental Services

Litter in Islington Captur12

I phoned them and was told to return the letter which I have done.
Very strange indeed !

Keep cool Malcolm - some of us have had to spend most of the day eating and drinking with 6 friends with not a computer - or even a smartphone to be seen.

I don't know what to make of the letter - unless someone local to you was visiting Islington, dropped litter, and was quick thinking enough to give a false name and your address.

I would write to the concerned authority and state in no uncertain terms that neither you, your wife or anyone close to you visited the location on that date, that you do not know anyone called Emily Jones and you consider that this is either a practical joke or spam.

You are surprised that they are unable to define exactly what the crime was since they did not know whether the accused had been seen to drop litter or litter identified with your address had been found.

If litter with your address has been found you would like to be sent a copy to determine whether you could help them further.

etc etc etc

I would strongly recommend you don't leave it just verbal - get it in writing ASAP.

Yes, I've done that Alan.....the interesting thing though is how they invented my address including postcode.....They must know me but I don't know anyone who would be likely to be in London around that time.

Vodafone have been sending me a letter every month addresses to somebody I don't know but I believed they lived here before we bought the house.  For the first 3 months I just put return to sender on it and posted it. After the fourth month I opened it and tried to find the name in the white pages to contact them as it was for a credit of $100.10. Got in touch with a half dozen people of the same name around NZ but it was none of them. In the end, after the eighth month I contacted Vodafone and they told me the account had been closed. So they profited by $100.10!
