Do you have regular checks at the dentist or only
go when you have a problem,

I go once a year for a check up and the Hygenist.

Wow ... I'm due to go the dentist tomorrow for my six monthly check and a polish and it'll cost me about £20. That's not private ... it must be NHS.

We are lucky in that we have a NHS dentist.  Even if you do, it is well know that some NHS dentists overcharge, as did ours before we changed. A check up should be £18-80.

See here. http://www.nhs.uk/NHSEngland/AboutNHSservices/dentists/Pages/nhs-dental-charges.aspx

Looking at that list I'm getting off lightly.
Over 10 years ago I nearly fell out of the dentist's chair when he charged me £60 for a crown ... I nearly told him to pull it out instead and rely on the remaining teeth shuffling along to fill the gap.

You are very fortunate Beastie, I've been three times this year and I have had two teeth removed. I clean my teeth at least three times a day but my problem is shrinking gums and there's nothing we can do about ageing.

Three times a day Malcolm?
Do you floss too or use those dinky little toothbrushes you can buy now. They're very good for getting between your gnashers and into every little crevice.

Nail on the head MM....'Ageing'....It'll come to me one day.....

Meanwhile, I hope to get some sleep tonight, for the first time in a week after the police and animal protection people eventually turned up to rescue a 'Husky' dog that had been abandoned in the house next door to us for the last three days.....The house is occupied by 'Occupados', which is squatters to you.....Well, they come and go in BMW's and vans and bikes....No bother at all until abandoning the dog....They are obviously criminals as they disappear for days on end and return for a while. The house is a bank repossession and here in Spain, official homeless people have extraordinary rights. That is why criminals use the guise of genuine homeless to occupy houses.....And here in Spain, there are a lot of empty properties.
I'll explain the whole tale tomorrow.....
