Summer is ending

Regardless of what weather we have in the summer, one thing that keeps happening it that greenery keeps on growing. With the onset of shorter days, growth is now slowing down. Good news if not a keen gardener and I admit that I'm not. Keep it tidy and that's about all.

The lawn got its last cut (hopefully) of the year during the week. So, for me, The end of the summer does at least mean looking forward to a break from doing the gardening. I don't generally attack falling leaves until most of them are down. After that, nothing.

Another thing about winter. The long summer days are good of course but isn't there also that nice cosy feeling one can get in the winter when the curtains are closed, and the wall lights are on? You can't get that until about 9:30 p.m in the summer.

The onset of approaching winter isn't all bad news is it?

I find that I don't really mind Winter when it arrives but the onset of the bad weather I find very depressing.

I don’t mind winter apart from all the coughs and colds and flu etc that hangs about.
And of cause all the bills go up for heating lights etc

That is enevitable for all of us Meerkat. But it depends on how you feel the cold. Last year for instance it was still warm enough to leave the Heating off in my Bungalow. Mind you it was built with all high Tech knowledge at the time. Solar Panels, Double insulation and all that stuff. The heating didn't go on in here till the week before Christmas last year. If I remember correctly I switched it off at the end of the fist week in March. So really wasn't all that costly.

We have double glazing and we had insulation put in the walls a couple of years ago.
But our house is all open plan, the only rooms you can close the doors too are the bedrooms.
Kitchen , lounge and stairs are all opened into one.

I hate the Winter.

Think of the good old days of open fires, nothing like it now.

and a bird in the hand is worth two in the bush - I used to say that a girl in the hand is worth two in the bush!! we have begun our wet season but no wet yet - but as sure as god made little apples it will come!

beautiful M12 - do you know where that was taken and what kind of tree - dendrology was never my top subject at school!!

also like the wine and cheese selections but you'd expect the wine to be good fromCM
