PostSubject: Unbelievable    Unbelievable EmptySat Aug 12, 2017 2:27 pm

We purchased a brand new tumble dryer. Tumbly  is all settled in.

First use fine started up and dried a load of washing.

Second and third use  is bit more difficult as it is a slide start wouldn't go on. Hubby had no trouble. Took me nearly an hour to start it up.

Looking through the instruction I see they have an app. So went through the rigmerole  to download the app, bearing in mind I cannot even answer my super duper mobile.

Took me over half an hour to pick up the app from the antenna.

Hey ho  I can now start my dryer from my app.

What a performance  groan

I trust your tumble drier has adequate anti malware installed - otherwise you may get all your computerised and internet connected systems infected.

I've never used any household item like that before Goldie. Does setting it up involve using a password?

I got it off play store Mart, via Google play.

I had to open another darned email account.  There is an antenna on the tumble dryer and you put your phone up to a thing on the front called one touch. It then automatically sets up the programme.

I have read up on not keen as it can apparently listen in on you.  Sounds ridiculous I know.

I have taken the app off and managed to start it today.

Our grandson thinks I am so uncool  :;smile:

Why on earth would anyone need a domestic appliance that you operate via your phone.

The only reason I can see is that those with a Hotpoint Tumble Drier might want to operate it from a mile away in case it catches fire.

Alan I wondered that too. I just wanted one that just switched on and off.

I must be jinxed as I never even noticed when viewing the product.

I did like my keyless ignition on my Auris though  :;smile:

It must have been quite a surprise when you discovered the phone could operate the tumble drier. I wonder if it can phone you to say "I have finished my programme but the towels need a bit more drying time. Please restart me". :)

We've got one like that Goldie! When trying to set up Netflix, Jack says "I'll do it Nana".
