| Anybody enjoying the new Top Gear on Sundays? Do you prefer Clarkson my lips are sealed or the new mob? I quite like parts of the new show as it is quite funny in parts. |

| Never seen it ! Either with Clarkson or the new mob. Motoring is a serious business these days ! If they would just road test and report on the new vehicles on the market, perhaps I could give it a go. |

| I agree Malcolm. Not everyday cars and the BBC expenditure must be enormous. Why not road test a Toyota Yaris I am not keen that they seem to smash up these new cars. You can hear me say but I would have had that. We tend to hire these days as we live on an island. I am often seen whizzing around in a Fiat Punto :stormy: |

| No Lanza it's not MCJ is it or WW. Can't say names obviously. We live South I am good friends with both actually. The island is so small you tend to know most people. Nice guys. You can't be on Facebook too much gossip. Island living is nice but you have to be under the radar a bit |

| Top Gear are handicapped testing normal cars because the manufacturers won't cooperate and a dealer would lose out if they loaned a car for such a purpose.
This was the result of the Top Gear team criticising vehicles - often deservedly - in typical banter terms.
After the ban - they tried duping a dealer by going on a road test - I can't recall which model - using a hidden camera. It was rubbish and they got rumbled.
Magazines can criticise - but only in a positive way - I am told that they have to submit their review to the manufacturer for approval before publication. The magazines need advertising revenue and the manufacturer needs publicity. It would not shock me to learn that brown envelopes get exchanged. How else can you explain the result of some comparative road tests where a certain brand is consistently held in high esteem despite poisoning the planet. ----------------------------------------- This post may contain controversial personal opinion, humour, ironic comment or sarcasm. If I have accidentally offended you - please contact me and I will unreservedly apologise. If however it was intentional - it will add to my pleasure. |

The funniest one I saw was Clarkson road testing a Reliant Robin. Very amusing. You would think some of the bigger dealerships would welcome publicity and afford to trash a car. Not that approve |

| I haven't watched Top Gear all that much over the years. I don't have a great deal of interest in cars. We sometimes go to an annual car show where they close all of the town centre roads and fill them up with cars old and new. That's more for the day out rather than an interest in cars though.
If someone asks me what car someone drives, the answer is most likely to be, "I dunno, it's just a car". :) |

| Know what you mean Mart. Apart from the hire cars here anyone who owns a car tends to let it's run its life course. The sun is so fierce and with the winds and sands blown in from the Sahara the paintwork just literally peels. Unless you can park in the shade your car is doomed. |
