MY COLD ... A Lament

My Cold ... a lament


Three days now, still slobbing around
In bed, on sofa in dressing gown
No energy and so much to do 
I guess I'm thankful it's not 'flu'
I sniff .. the cough just makes me ache
Why am I in this sorry state?

I sleep, I wake and lose the plot
Where am I? why am I so hot?
Was that a film? the telly's on
The postman knocked ... oh no he's gone
The days and nights merge into one
When will this pass? I want it gone

YES I'm warm ... now please don't fuss
I'm in no mood for all that stuff
And PLEASE don't bother me with trivia
My nose is sore, where is the Nivea?
World affairs and other issues
Are insignificant when I've no tissues

And I remain a sorry sight
Bored and listless .. what a fright
Who is that woman? whose reflection
In the mirror? on closer inspection
I think these glasses can not be mine
I'll find some others and will be fine

Actually things are a bit better today but I'm still falling asleep and lacking in energy.

Then a massage from the feet
At the thighs you’ll feel real neat
 
It’s really just mind over matter
We don’t mind this idle chatter
When killing viruses you see
You need to sacrifice the “ME”
